Dr Paula Gilvarry

Dr Paula Gilvarry is a Public Health doctor who has worked for 20 years in the area of community medicine. This involves team work with Public Health Nurse in carrying out a programme of child development checks, vaccinations and assessments for various allowances.

She is a senior medical officer for the past 6 years and has responsibility for coordinating the services. The job involves working closely with all community services (e.g. OT Physiotherapy, social work psychology), primary care, education and housing .

She has been involved in the Irish Medical Organisation for the past 12 years and was President of the IMO 2006-2007. She was President of the Irish Society of Community and Public Health Medicine for 2007-2009 and is currently National Chairperson of the IMO Public Health Doctors Committee. She is currently upskilling in General Practice and hopes to work part-time in GP from 2010.

She is married, lives in Sligo and has two college-going children.
