John McCormack served as a member of An Garda Siochana for 36 years, before retiring in October 2010. He served principally in the Detective branch, with the last 15 years as Detective Sergeant based in Ballina. He was responsible for the investigation of all major crime and incidents and the submission of full investigation files to the Director of Public Prosecutions. This work involved dealing with and interviewing persons as witnesses, victims and offenders
